my main experiences ☆

In October 2023 I was lucky enough to work at Live at Leeds in the City as an artist liaison, preparing the green rooms backstage, carrying gear, and helping meet the needs of bands such as The Last Dinner Party, Wunderhorse and The Bug Club. In May 2024 I then worked at Live at Leeds in the Park as a production runner with a similar role, providing for artists sitewide across the festival (including the likes of Declan Mckenna and Circa Waves).

2023 / 2024 : Live at leeds festival

2022 : shadowing head sound engineer on west end musical ‘chicago’

I had the incredible opportunity to shadow the mixing engineer in the New Theatre Oxford for a West End production of the musical ‘Chicago’. I witnessed behind the scenes of both matinee and evening shows, helped execute sound checks and safety procedures, and learnt about miking up the live musicians in the pit. During the shows I sat at the mixing desk and the engineer showed me the mixing process for live theatre performances, which gave me insight to a different side of sound technology from gigs and live music.

2022 : a week’s work experience at the northern stage, newcastle

For our school work experience, I took the initiative to find a creative opportunity, which meant commuting to the nearest city outside of my small hometown. I applied to the Northern Stage, and was accepted. The week away was spent learning about a side of music and performance technology that I had never previously explored. I gained experience as a DSM, ASM, lighting rigger applying gels and gobos, set designer, and -most valuably- sound operator, sound designer, and sound engineer. My team created a short immersive piece using lighting and sound (effects, voiceovers and a soundtrack) to create an atmosphere.

2016 - 2023 : various ensembles and performances

Throughout my time at school and college, I was a part of many ensembles, including a jazz band, concert band, wind band, and panto band playing live for a week of performances at Christmas. We performed together regularly, including a trip touring Germany in 2018 and more recently playing at a local festival. This gave me extensive experience of performing to crowds with others that I hope to continue at university.
